QUESTIONS YOU PROBABLY HAVE

A+ Rating at BB

How We Found You

It may take us several years of tedious genealogy and other research and expense to get to the point that we contact you about assets we have found for you and/or your relatives.

We subscribe to several special databases that we have used to find you. We access them only after initial genealogy research shows us that you may be a prospective heir. These databases are not available to the general public. In order to use them, we must have our PI licenses up to date and a site visit is required by the companies who own these databases to make sure that our office is secure and in compliance with federal regulations.

Who Left Me This Money?

Each case is different, but we are finding that many times our clients may be 2-6 generations removed from the person who left the original asset. Many don't even know who that person is, even when we tell them! (We are happy to provide the name of the person leaving this windfall after ALL Agreements have been signed.) We will also share our genealogy research with you after the case as been paid. Just ask!

Expiration Dates on Windfalls

We must find and account for all the prospective heirs in your case and ask that you cooperate with us in a timely manner so that we can file and prove your claim in a court of law. There is a need for speed as many cases have expiration dates. If a deadline is missed, that opportunity will never come again.

Our Agreement Basically Says

In plain English, our Agreement says:

1. You pay no money up-front.

2. We only get paid if and when we are able to get you a check.

3. We will hire and pay all attorney fees per the Agreement.

4. Agreement is null and void if we can't get you paid and you don't  owe us anything.

To Begin

Once we contact you, we will ask you to complete our Agreement so that we can begin working your case and know we will be paid for our efforts--but only after you receive your windfall. Check out our BBB A+ rating! (You may also want to show this Agreement to your attorney, pastor or other trusted person so that you are comfortable with us and know that we are legitimate.) Your information is always held in the strictest confidence!

Your signed Agreement and all your other paperwork such as your ID, and any vital records needed to prove that you are an heir, should be sent directly by you to our home office. We will process all paperwork and get it ready for the attorney. Your researcher will forward you a completed copy of the Agreement for your records. They will not see any other paperwork you send us.

We prefer receiving everything from you via e-mail whenever possible. It's faster, more secure and copies better. Also, the vital records we'll need do not ever leave your possession. You may also use snail mail or fax if you prefer but we will need clear copies of everything. Note: If sending a driver's license copy via mail or fax, please enlarge it to at least 129%.

(See your Agreement on how and where to send all paperwork.)

We contact you with periodic updates:

We will give you periodic updates via e-mail; so do be sure to give us your e-mail or that of a family member or friend. (If you currently do not have an e-mail address, you can establish one for yourself easily and go to your public library to use their computers to access it.)

Do I pay taxes on this money?

Taxes have already been paid on the money you will get. You will receive a 1099-interest statement at the end of the year only if interest has been added to your check.

How much money will I get?

We actually don't know how much you will get until the attorney works it all out according to your position in our heirship report and also the state or country laws involved. It's not a done deal until the Judge in the matter signs the order! Remember, we don't get paid until you do!

When Will I Get This Money?

Once again, it depends upon which court hears the case. Recovering very large amounts of money in some states can often take several years even after we have done all our homework. We will keep in touch periodically to give you updates--preferably by e-mail. Also, it's very important that you keep us updated on new addresses, phone numbers, e-mail addresses, death of an heir, etc.

Is It Worth My Time & Trouble?

We get asked this question a lot! Sure it is! If we didn't think so, we wouldn't work so hard to find you. Best of all, these windfalls have often changed a client's life for the better. Our feeling is that whatever amount of money you get from this windfall you knew nothing about before we contacted you, is more than you have now!

What If I Don't Want This Money?

If for some reason you do not want this windfall, then it's important you sign a simple statement indicating that you do not wish to collect your share of this money and you want your share to be divided among the remaining heirs. An opt-out statement will need to be notarized and you will be required to furnish positive identification. (Ask your agent for this form.) This will allow the other heirs to divide your share equally. If you don't do anything, you jeopardize the windfall for the rest, as there are definite time deadlines. (see above)

Our Commission Rate

You'll see our commission rate in the Agreement we send you. The percentage varies depending upon where the money is actually coming from and how much our attorney fees generally run in that area. We pay all usual expenses and attorney fees which are deducted from our commission at the time you are paid. (Proving DNA is not a usual expense and will be born by the heirs)

Still Have Questions or Concerns?

We have tried to answer most of the initial questions we are usually asked. Please feel free to contact your agent about any other questions you may have. They will continue to work with you throughout this process.
